Teacher Appreciation

"The teacher that made a difference in my life was my fourth grade teacher, Mrs. Coats. She motivated me into reading because she said that if we read a million words in the school year than she would take us somewhere. So when I and 7 other kids read a million words, she took us to the Seattle Science Center, and since there were 8 of us she had to take us on a limo! The reading has helped me in many ways I can read books fast and even from reading books I learned weird, but new words." - David

"A teacher who has had an impact on my life is my aerospace teacher, Col. Roberts.  Even though I've only had him for 1 semester, he's changed my life completely!" - Mackenzie

"I think a teacher who has made my life better and greatly influenced me is my freshman English teacher . I hated school freshman year and she always encouraged me to keep going and do my best and it meant a lot to me." - Bennita

"Mr. Chiou was my programming teacher at my old school and taught me the theory around creating good solid code. Which is, in my opinion, the most important skill I can possess." - Kellan

"My mom has been a special teacher in my life. She has taught me to value myself and others, as well as the value of using wisdom and maintaining my moral beliefs. I am confident and like myself and what I believe and want for my future because she cared so much about me. I love my mom!" - Mellissa

"A teacher that made a difference in my life is my 8th grade social studies teacher, Mrs. Herchenroeder. She made me love US history. She also talked to me, which not many teachers did, because I was very shy. She pulled out my personality a little more and i am very grateful for that." - Elisabeth

"I LOVED my elementary teachers - Mrs. Vied, Mrs. Villa, Mrs. Lyons, Mr. Stansbury, Mr. Chappell. They were all amazing! In high school, my favorite teacher was Mr. Burg. I took all of his literature courses because he made learning fun. My favorite college professor was Candy Boyd. She was a vivacious and energetic reading teacher, who was also a children's book author! Can you see where I got my love of literature? All of these teachers made me who I am today. They are why I am a teacher!" - Mrs. Sol

In honor of National Teacher Appreciation Week (May 7 - 11), tell us about a special teacher who has made a difference in your life. A teacher can be anyone who has taught you an important lesson - a coach, a relative, a counselor, an adviser, or an educator from any grade level.

Thank you teachers everywhere...
for your wisdom, your kindness and for going the extra mile!
You are appreciated.

My favorite teacher is Mrs. Rachelle Bryson. Last year, she was like a mentor as well as a teacher. She helped me grow mentally and spiritually. In April 2011, our whole class took a trip to Washington, D.C., Pennsylvania, and Virginia. We learned so much history, and were inspired to change the world. ~Kari

The teacher that has made a difference in my life would be... Mrs. Comstock. I personally did not like her very much but she pushed the entire class to learn to write better stories. She tought us new techniques to use and different ways to form interesting sentences. This was in 2nd grade but i went to a private school so it was more like 3rd or 4th grade level of reading ans writing.

I think the teacher that has made the most impact on my life is Dan Stutich. He is always there for me when i need him. He encourages me to be who I am and do the things I love but and at the same time lets me know i can do well in school if i stay on track. No one in my other schools cared if i did well. They would just put me aside and let me do what i wanted. Thanks to Mr. Stutich I might pass all of my classes this semester.

There is actually two teachers that made a great impact on my life and the first one teaches math at my old school, her name is Ms. Laliberte and she always made sure that I stayed on top of my schoolwork because she did not want to see me fail. Ms. Laliberte also made sure that I stayed out of trouble and was always there when I needed help whether if it was math work or work for any other class. I thank her for being the only teacher at my old school that was actually there for me. The second teacher is Mr. Stutich because he calls to make sure that I stay motivated and stay on top of my grades. Thanks to Mr. Stutich I am passing my classes with 4 A's 1 B and 1 C. Dan also calls me when I start slipping so that he can help me work my way back up on track. I honestly don't know what I would do without these two teachers and I very thankful that they are here to help me!

A teacher that has made a difference in my life would probably Mr.Heacox. He was my math teacher last year and he was the only teacher that saw potential in me and didn't give up, even when I was struggling, and at my lowest point, he pushed me to get my grade before sememster and taught me more about math then any of my previous teachers, because he took the time to care and actually get me to understand the concepts that we were learing. I'm so thankful to have been taught by him. Shout out to Mr. H! Thank you so much!

My favorite teacher was my fifth grade teacher, Ms. Dehaven. It was her first year and she was young and very excited about everything. She was not only good at relaying the message, but she made it extremely fun too! I remember despising history before fifth grade. Once I got to her class, I LOVED it! She taught in way that was interesting and I actually REMEMBER what her lessons were about. Not very man people got taught by her so i I feel honored to be one of the few who did.

I really don't have just one teacher that is my favorite but if I had to chose one it would be Mr. Stab. He was my fifth grade teacher. He would help me if I got stuck on a problem and if I did not want to go outside with the other kids we would talk about random things and eat pay day bars.

My Favorite teacher was my 7th grade science teacher. She was kind of crazy, and I loved that about her. She made science fun! She told me that the only reason she came back to teach was because; she saw how much I loved her class.

A special teacher to me was my fourth grade teacher Mr.Gaston. He wore a suit everyday and treated us respectfully. He always smiled and was very patient. I appreciate him because I had some issues with stuff and he took the time to kindly help me and encourage me.

I will never forget my fifth grade teacher Mr. Harris. One day I had brought my Game Boy from home and accidentally left it in my desk, needless to say it was stolen. I was naturally upset and decided to tell Mr.Harris. So what did he do? The very next day he told the entire class that he would call the police if my Game Boy wasn't returned! Two things happened that day, I got my Game Boy back, and I had a new found respect for my teacher. He was by far one of the best teachers I ever had and I'll always remember him for that one simple act of unbelievable kindness.

A teacher that has made a difference in my life was my kindergarten teacher Mrs. Booneigh. She went above and beyond what a teacher would do for a normal student. One day I collapsed in her class and cried out in pain unable to get up or move. Being a young child I didn't know what else to do but cry out "help". She rushed out to the hall and got a second teacher to take over her class as she carried me to the nurse and waited for my mom to arrive and rush me to the hospital. I was in the hospital for 3 days and she even came to visit me to make sure I was ok. She made me realize teachers really do care about their students past just their education.

My favorite teacher was Mrs.McCarthy. She was my 5th grade teacher and she explained my hardest subjects with ease and was very kind. She made school fun and enjoyable and she also let you do school work in class so you wouldn't have as much homework. Best teacher ever. My bro. had her to and he says the same thing.

I can't say that any of my WAVA teachers have made much of an impact on my life. I have never been a teachers pet nor has any of my teachers made a real effort to reach out when (as my gradebook and grades say) I need help. But my Mum... I love her so. I was home schooled by her up to the 8th grade. She get's the best teacher award from me.
